The lodge offers a cozy atmosphere with impressive peaked windows that showcase the stunning views of the fall foliage. The spacious Deluxe King Room featured a kitchenette, adding convenience to our stay. However, the refrigerator settings were tricky, causing food to freeze overnight, and the check-in process could be smoother. While dining options are limited, the homemade yogurt provided was a delightful treat.

The lodge was perfect for our two-family meetup, particularly for introducing our dogs and adopting a foster dog. We loved the common areas that were spacious and comfortable, allowing for great bonding time. Additionally, the wooded trails behind the property provided ample space for walking our dogs, making it a wonderful experience amidst the beautiful fall foliage. The check-in process could use a little streamlining, and we noticed our fridge settings weren't ideal, but these didn't take away from the overall enjoyable stay.

A balance of wins and fails
The location is a paradise for nature lovers, with fantastic open spaces and wooded trails for walking dogs. The indoor pool and cozy common areas provided a warm and inviting atmosphere for gatherings.
A lack of nearby dining options was a downside, making it necessary to travel 15-20 minutes for meals. The rooms, while comfortable, felt a bit dated, detracting from the overall experience.

Black River Lodge impressed me with its beautiful setting along the Black River Scenic Parkway. The room I stayed in, the Deluxe King Room, was spacious, featuring a microwave and refrigerator. The large peaked windows offered stunning views of the fall foliage, which enhanced the relaxing atmosphere. I appreciated having a cozy sitting area to unwind. The owners, Brittany and Justin, made me feel like family, readily sharing local tips to help me explore. The lodge's common areas were perfect for gathering, with a fantastic pool for a refreshing dip. However, the check-in process needed some fine-tuning. It felt a bit cumbersome, especially since key details could have been shared ahead of time to make my arrival smoother. I also noticed that the refrigerator settings weren't ideal. my vegetables froze overnight. Despite this, the overall experience was enjoyable, especially appreciating the nearby hiking opportunities. I wish I had stayed longer to fully soak in the surroundings. A two-day minimum stay would be ideal for anyone looking to explore the area more thoroughly.

The Beautiful King Room featured high ceilings and large windows, letting in tons of natural light and offering fine views. With a small kitchenette, you can whip up a quick snack, and the common areas, loaded with games, provide a fun space to unwind after a long day of adventure.
Check-in took longer than necessary due to a lack of detailed instructions that could've been sent ahead of time. The refrigerator settings weren't user-friendly, as it froze our vegetables overnight, which could be a hassle if you're planning to store fresh food. For a more complete experience, a longer stay would definitely be beneficial. We barely scratched the surface of what the area offers in just one night.
